11 Super Fast Skin Tightening Tips for that Upcoming Class Reunion
Class reunions are always nerve-wracking events, especially if you have put on some weight and have gotten older. Of course, you all got older, but that doesn’t mean you want to look older. You want to avoid people talking about you unless it is to wonder how you manage to look so young, and that can best be accomplished by showing up with smooth, tight skin.
The problem is, you have put off doing anything about it because you didn’t have the time and now you look all of your age and then some with the reunion just a couple of days away! Don’t panic. We will give you 11 super fast skin tightening tips for that upcoming class reunion.
A couple of days away…
1. Dermal fillers
If you’re afraid of needles then you should skip this tip, but it really is the easiest albeit temporary way of tightening skin by plumping up the skin where your wrinkles used to be. It will make you look a lot younger almost instantly with no downtime and it will last for at least 3 months. Take note that there are side effects such as chance of an allergic reaction, discoloration, or forming permanent bumps in the skin. If you do decide to take the plunge with this, don’t be a cheapskate. Make sure that you have it done by a licensed dermatologist with extensive experience in using the stuff.
This is another quickie cosmetic procedure suitable for the face and neck that has little or no downtime. It uses radio frequency (RF) to tighten the collagen fibers so that they pull in loose skin as well as reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Results will vary but in general the effects can be seen within 24 hours. The skin may be reddish and you may feel discomfort, even pain, but those will all go away after a few hours. The results can last for years if it is properly administered. Again, have a licensed dermatologist do this for you.
The night before…
3. Facial mask
A facial mask is the best way to prep your skin the night before an important event. Depending on what you use, it not only draws out accumulated dirt and oils from your face, but softens dead skin cells so it washes away without having to stress your skin. You can use any of the commercially available masks, or you can make your own.
We recommend a paste of 2 tablespoons cucumber juice, one egg white, a bit of lemon juice, and a few drops of Vitamin E. Slather all over the face and neck and leave for 15 minutes until it hardens before washing it with some warm water. You can also mix 3 tablespoons each of olive oil and lemon juice, but leave for half an hour before washing it off with warm water.
Don’t worry about scaring that special someone half to death by emerging from the bathroom looking like you’ve been buried for a couple of months! Once you’ve washed it off, you’ll look much more appetizing…
Instead of a mask, you can use an exfoliant such as lactic acid (you can also use feminine wash but dilute it with water before using) or glycolic acid to pretty much do the same thing: remove dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new ones. It is also a great way to dry out any threatening or current acne.
After you have cleaned your face for the night using a mask or a facial scrub, you can use a toner specially formulated for your particular skin type to close up the pores and further tighten your skin.
Indulge and buy for yourself one of these “serums,” which are actually concentrated amounts of vitamins that are proven to hydrate the skin, even out skin tone, plump up fine lines and wrinkles, and close pores to tighten the skin. The effect is temporary but you don’t really need it to last that long. However, it can have long-lasting benefits with regular use.
On the day itself...
7. Egg white
You can prep your skin for makeup using an egg-white foam. Simply whip up the egg white until it forms peaks and apply the stuff on your face (including around the eyes) with a pastry brush. Wait for it to dry, about 20 minutes, and then wash off with cold water. Dry gently before applying your makeup.
You will immediately feel how much tighter, smoother and supple your skin is, and suddenly the skin around your eyes will not be puffy from staying awake, stressing about your reunion! This is mostly because of the protein in the egg white. It’s another reason to love eggs!
Even if your reunion is at night and indoors, the tightness of you face and neck skin will improve with the use of sunblock. If your reunion is the outdoors kind, then you definitely need your sun protection. Just make sure you pick out the ones that will not leave any residue. There are formulations that double as leave-on moisturizer and make-up base that can cover up fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin tone, and ashy complexion without looking like you forgot to remove your facial mask from the night before. Some have a light tint while others are translucent. Choose wisely, oh Grasshopper!
In case you’re reading this article as you are frantically getting ready for your reunion, you won’t have time to do any prepping. You can use these last three tips for emergency skin tightening.
9. Plain old H2O
Believe it or not, a great skin tightener on its own or in combination with other techniques is plunging your face into a basin full of ice water for one minute or so. Not ice-cold, actual ice with water. This will instantly close your pores and tighten the skin in reaction. Just make sure that you use a moisturizing sunblock or foundation over it to prevent your skin from flaking.
10. Do up your hair
If your main problem is loose skin along the jaw line, forehead, and the eyes, a tight up-do can do wonders in pulling the skin in just the right places.
Yes, we do mean the antacid that you usually take when you feel queasy. The active ingredient is bismuth subsalicylate, and it is very effective as a skin tightener. It will also reduce pore size and dry up any zits you may have sprouted in the night. Simply apply a tablespoon of it on your face and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off with cold (not warm) water. Use a moisturizer after as it will really dry out your skin, and use only in emergency situations. Oh, and you can swig a tablespoon of it to settle the butterflies in your stomach as well.
